Best Gluten Free Bistro in Austin

In celebrating Celiac Awareness Month, I went on an adventure to find a new place with gluten free goodness.

I was expecting to find a small restaurant with a few gluten free items.  In Austin it’s not too hard to find a offbeat place with one or two things for me.  To my surprise, I came upon the BEST gluten free cafe in Austin, TX.  The Java Dive Organic Cafe serves their entire menu gluten free!  It’s delicious and amazing.  I had a pesto turkey panini with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and cheese.  I had a delicious gluten free chocolate chip cookie (their brownie looked amazing too), and a lovely iced chai.  I can’t wait to come back and sample more including wraps, burgers, waffles, pizzas, and a host of other goods. They even make gluten free wedding cakes! This is the most extensive menu I’ve encountered for gluten free folks and the Bistro is certified gluten free by the Gluten Intolerance Group.

Please stop by and give them some business.  Recommend Java Dive to your gluten free friends.  Even if you’re not gluten free – try it and you might see that gluten free living isn’t so bad.

Enjoy!

  1. I was just told that a new restaurant, Contigo (http://www.contigotexas.com/austin), that just opened in East Austin is also serving to us Celiacs. They, like many places serve gluten free beer.

Gluten Free Beers you should look for around town:
    -Bards Beer
    -Green’s Gluten Free Beers
    -Hambleton Ales (Ale and Lager)
    -Redbridge Beer
    -Lake Front Brewery’s New Grist
    -St. Peter’s Sorghum Beer

I will have to leave it to you to review these beverages as I’m not much of a beer fan. Enjoy!

  2. […] Wild Wood Art Cafe.  It’s close to down town and has a quaint atmosphere.  Just like Java Dive, EVERYTHING in the place is gluten free!  Though they are not certified by the Gluten Intolerant […]
