Diverging from mental health for a brief moment, with Memorial Day around the corner, I encourage you to be safe in the sun (see my previous post on Fun in the Sun-Safe in the Sun) as you barbeque and swim this weekend.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) released their guide to the Best Sunscreens, rating them on safety and effectiveness. It also lists products to avoid.
Additionally, Consumer Reports released their best sunscreen list, conducting their testing in real-world conditions
The Time’s Healthland Blog has a great article for you with the following tips:
- Check UVA protection
- Stick with SPF 30
- Use water resistant sunscreen
- Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours
- Wear protective clothing
- Limit time in the sun
Skin cancer is not worth the risk. And you’ll look younger longer if you don’t excessively tan. Sun is good for you, but remember to play safe outside.
